Raspberry Pi LIRC Applications
The new Raspberry Pi single board $25 computer should make many linux based applications a whole lot cheaper. One example is creating an LCD TV network based mennu or information board. In the past this was most often done by putting a full computer near every TV or a set top box costing several hundred dollars. What's worse was many of the set top boxes specifically designed for informtion display purposes required a serial connection to the TV which limited the choices of the LCD montitor.
A Raspberry Pi board can not only serve the video content via HDMI to the LCD Monitor from either an SD card or network connection, but it can also power on/off the Monitor via an IR Blaster and LIRC. There are numerous ways an irblaster can be connected to the Rasberry Pi. contact us for application specific recomendations
